A junior performing arts camp (half-day, 9am to 11:30am, Mon-Fri, July 12-16) for ages 4-6, featuring instruction in drama, voice, and choreography. The camp will culminate in a fully-staged performance of the mini-musical Goldie and the Bears (based on the story of Goldilocks). Excellent introduction into the arts! A music theatre camp (full day, 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri, July 12-16) for grades 1-12. The camp includes instruction in voice, acting and choreography, culminating in a fully-staged performance of WONDERLAND (based on Alice in Wonderland) on Saturday, July 17 at 2pm and 7pm. The Jolly Mon Auditions May 1, 2010 Audition for the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center WINGS summer musical The Jolly Mon, a Caribbean musical fantasy based on the copyrighted book and song by Jimmy Buffet. The show is full of fun, great music and adventure, an enchanted guitar and a magic dolphin. Auditions are open to children and youth 6 and up. May 1 from 10 AM – 1 PM and May 3, 6- 8 PM at the Discovery Center! Musicians, singers, dancers and actors are all welcome. Performances are July 14 -18. Please come with a prepared song. A CD player will be available!

Award-winning Saginaw Photographer Gary Bublitz will be on hand from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. to capture images your children. The cost of the first photo is $10.00. Other poses available for an additional fee. Proceeds to benefit Mothers of Multiples.

The Summer Interpreters’ Boot Camp is designed for high school students that enjoy and want to learn more about history. The camp allows the students to participate in multiple hands-on activities. They will learn self-reliance working with others as they pursue pioneer skills. They will also learn basic interpretation skills, which is a process used in many museums and parks.

The Young Pioneers Summer Camp is designed so students learn by participating in hands-on activities. Students will learn basic frontier skills, team building, self–reliance, and creative problem solving. These skills were manifested in the men and women on the American Frontier…men and women like Daniel and Rebecca Boone. Activities Include but not limited to: Team Building Activities, Split Rails and Rive Shingles, Journaling,Rope Work, Weaving, Blacksmithing, Fire Building, Land Measurements Camp is held June 28- July 1 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Cost: $150 per participant.

Home School Day - Forest Education Students will learn to identify native trees and plants using a dichtomous key and read the rings of a tree. We will then take this knowledge outdoors to see what we learned. Find out what animals need to live and what you can do to help wildlife. Students will play a fun habitat game to help them fully understand that destroyng a habitat has negative effects on it's inhabitants. If time permits we will also make a pinecone bird feeder for the students to take home to their own backyard habitats.
