3… 2… 1… Blast off! Discovery Science Center’s newest permanent exhibit, “Rocket Lab” launches off July 2, 2010. Entering the Rocket Lab means stepping into the blast zone! Located inside DSC’s famous cube – a sight easily recognizable by Interstate 5 – this Lab highlights the history and science behind rocket travel. Experience a rocket launch by surrounding yourself by video screens, blasts of fog and state-of-the-art sound effects. Learn about the chemistry behind different kinds of rocket fuels used by JPL.

The exhibit features Tinkertoy in educational and fun activities inspired by GE’s successful “Imagination at Work” campaign – showing how innovation can positively influence everyday life and create solutions to real work challenges.

Creative six & seven year olds will love Mondays with the Masters Kids Classes! Every Monday from 10am to 2pm our Masters class will spotlight a special artist. We’ll explore the art of Van Gogh, Monet, Cassat, Warhol, Matisse, Picasso, Pollock, Klimt, O’Keefe & others. These classes are multimedia & feature pottery painting, games, videos, story time & more all associated with the artist. Cost is $25 per session. Kids are to bring a bagged lunch.
