Costumed volunteers will welcome all visitors to the 1825 Brown-Stetson-Sanford House to see a transformation back to the last Christmas before the War Between the States. A Victorian-attired Santa will be available for pictures, and demonstrations of needlework, candle-making, and vintage toys will be ongoing. Also, there will be storytelling and a magician! Enjoy cider and gingerbread cookies as one enjoys the historical wonder of the Brown-Stetson-Sanford House!

Visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy the decorations and vote on the Gingerbread House entries, sample tasty holiday fare, and bid on antiques and collectibles. Members of Georgia's Old Capital Museum will be allowed a "sneak peek" from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. The admission price is $25.00 and it includes a membership to the museum as a gift for the holidays!

Come to the Heritage Farm and learn the history behind the German tradition of cutting lace paper. Make a Valentine's Day decoration and take home instructions for more creative paper fun. Supplies are included. Participants must be ages 16+.

Start your weekend with a relaxing and enlightening evening walk at Spring Valley. Through outdoor explorations, activities and readings, adult participants will increase their knowledge of the natural world and connect to nature. End the evening in the Merkel Cabin with refreshments. Participants must be age 21+.

Learn to make old fashioned lye soap and your own specialty artisan soap. This program is designed for participants ages 18+.

Ward off those dull winter days by learning about drying flowers and the language behind them. Bring an old tea cup and make a cheerful bouquet of dried flowers from last summer. Enjoy some tea and cakes to brighten your day! This program is designed for participants ages 15+.

Using milk right off the farm, you'll make cheese from start to finish. Participants will make both hard and soft cheeses while learning the history and science behind one of our favorite foods. This program is designed for participants ages 16+.

Learn about canning from its early developments in he 19th century to the system used today. Read historic recipes and take home two different canned delights. This program is designed for participants ages 15+.

Nothing staves off the cold like the fresh smell and taste of warm bread! Read historic recipes, knead fresh dough and bake it in our wood burning stove. Take home tasty samples of your hard work! This program is designed for participants ages 16+.

Join us for discovery with our bona fide naturalist, Karen Puracan, and additional guest speakers. Ages 6+ Saturday, Dec. 4 from 1:30-3PM. $6.00 for adults (ages 16 and up), $3.00 for children (ages 5-15). Limited to 30 registered participants. Visit our website at www.mydiscoverycenter.org.
