Join the Muck in celebrating Polynesian culture with a special luau dinner, and a performance by Polynesian Paradise. Specializing in the traditional and modern dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa, Polynesian Paradise is currently the only Polynesian international touring company in Southern California.

Come relive the exciting and interesting history of the Grand Old Game and enjoy the fast-paced action of bare knuckle base ball based on the original rules from 1858. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

From farming to tradesmiths, there was plenty of work to be done in the early settlement days of Naperville. When all the work was complete, it was time to play. The same is true today and Naper Settlement invites you to spend some of your leisure time with us, learning about trades, crafts, chores and games. During the month of July, enjoy a variety of activities based on the theme, “Work and Play,” including tradesmen sharing their craft, rope making, laundry, food preparation, butter making, games, town ball and vintage baseball. After all, what is more American than baseball and hot dogs?

Music for Munchkins was created to: • Bring the gift of music to young children • make learning fun and exciting with music • allow children to experience music through active participation • encourage children to develop a sense of confidence in their musical achievements • allow children to be creative and express themselves with music.

Each Settlement Sunday, admission to our museum not only includes free sundaes with do-it-yourself toppings, but also a variety of hands-on family activities, games, demonstrations and tours of historic buildings.

Guided walking tour of Joseph Naper’s original 19 blocks of Naperville with an emphasis on downtown Naperville living and the German immigrant experience. Highlights of the tour include the site of Naper Academy, Hannah Ditzler’s home, the site of Stenger Brewery, and where Ed Stoos made his once famous Naperville soda water. All ages welcome.

Step through the pages of Naperville’s history as a museum educator shares the stories represented by ten of the extraordinary pieces of Century Walk public art interspersed throughout downtown Naperville’s historic buildings and walkways. Learn about the artists and inspiration behind the murals, mosaics, reliefs, mobiles and sculptures located within a half-mile walk of the museum. Discover Naperville in a whole new way as a knowledgeable museum guide leads you on an engaging walk through some of the community’s most historic and picturesque neighborhoods.

Bring the entire family for a unique overnight camping experience at Naper Settlement. Enjoy a catered dinner, two camping-related demonstrations by Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) staff, geocaching, roasted marshmallows, storytelling, family time and more activities. On Saturday morning, enjoy a continental breakfast and special tours of historic buildings before the museum opens to the public. Community partner REI staff will be on hand to help families set up tents on Friday night. There are currently no tents available for loan.

During the month of June, visit the museum to discover how Naperville developed from Joseph Naper’s original homestead site. From building shelter to planting crops, it takes a great deal of hard work, followed by celebrations, to establish a settlement. A variety of activities will be offered throughout the month based on the theme, “Building A Town,” including activity stations that feature pelts and trading items.
