Join the Historic Daniel Boone Home on March 27, 2010 for a fun filled event focusing on the daily lives of women in the 19th century. Reenactors will populate the village providing demonstrations on spinning, weaving, needlework, and clothing construction. See first hand the challenges women faced and how they overcame them. The event will begin at 9am and end at 5pm. Admission prices are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (age 55 and up), and $4 for children (between age 4 and 11.) Family rates begin at $25 and include two adults and up to five children.

Kids Science Challenge -National Competition

The Kids' Science Challenge is a free nationwide competition for 3rd to 6th graders, made possible by the National Science Foundation. Kids' learn about three science field on our website, kidsciencechallenge.com, where there is a suite of activities, games, videos, curricula and entry forms for the competition. They submit ideas and if their ideas are chosen, they win prizes and visit and collaborate with scientists to see their ideas come alive. This year's science fields are: Detective Science (forensics), Imagining Sports on Mars and Bio-Inspired Designs.

Handwriting Without Tears Class

The Handwriting Without Tears Program is intended for children between the ages of 6 and 11. Class starts February 2, and continues every Tuesday until March 9, from 6-7 p.m. The program will focus on a combination of print and cursive, depending on the child’s age, school expectancy and the parents’ wishes. Each 60 minute class will incorporate games and sensory-motor activities that affect handwriting abilities, as well as guided handwriting practice.

One Saturday a month Cochran Mill Nature Center presents Saturday Spotlight. Come out to beautiful Cochran Mill Nature Center and learn about a variety of topics. The programs will be presented by a different guest speaker each month. Most programs will include a PowerPoint presentation and/or field work. This Saturday we will be making rain barrels. Barrels are $38 each for members and $40 for non-members. Your fee will include all supplies needed to take home a completed barrel.YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER!

This Saturday our guest speaker will be Vicki Smith of A-Z Animals. She will introduce participants to the unique and wonderful bat. You will have the rare opportunity to see these bats live and up close.

Each month Cochran Mill Nature Center will feature a different environmental education topic for home schoolers to enjoy. This month learn about bats. Why they are an important part of the eco-system, myths & facts, and which species are native to Georgia are among the things you will learn.

Acting and Drama Classes at EVCT

EVCT will hold acting classes beginning Tuesday March 30 and running for six weeks through the 4th of May. Classes meet once a week for one hour. Cost of the six weeks of classes is $60.
