For rising 2nd and 3rd Graders (7–9 years old) June 25–29* Can you imagine the feeling of sand between your toes on a warm and sunny beach? How about the feeling of ooey gooey mud between your fingers? Or can you close your eyes and hear the patter of marching feet on dry soil? Come experience these sensations and more as we explore Jefferson Patterson Park from the ground up! Test your green thumb in the native garden, survey an archaeological site, and even try on some natural camouflage. Be prepared to get messy and try something new all in the name of science!

The War of 1812 Fair and Reenactment

Fee: $3/person or $10/car In 1814, war reached the shores of Southern Maryland. At the mouth of St. Leonard Creek, on property that is now part of JPPM, Maryland’s largest naval engagement occurred. This living history event puts you in the middle of life in Southern Maryland during the early 1800s. Event features tactical demonstrations and reenactments, camp life, live entertainment, crafts, music and hands-on activities.

Children's Day on the Farm
