All Ages, No Fee. Children of all ages are invited to the 27th Annual Children’s Day on the Farm, a celebration of Southern Maryland’s rich agricultural heritage! Enjoy new attractions as well as old favorites, like the antique Tractor Parade! Demonstrations, hands-on activities, rides, games, live entertainment, food and beverage. Great family fun! First Fridays Tour

Enjoy a free behind the scenes tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that houses over 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. The “Behind the Scenes” guided tour allows visitors to get up close and personal with our conservators and our collections. Group tours are offered year round for a small fee. Fee: $10/ person, $8/senior (55+) Ages: 10+ Point Farm was the country retreat of the late Mr. & Mrs. Jefferson Patterson. In 1983 Mrs. Patterson donated the property to the state in honor of her late husband, creating Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum. Join us the third Sunday of each month for a guided tour of this beautiful 1933 Colonial Revival brick house and gardens designed by noted female architects Gertrude Sawyer and Rose Greely. New Media Projects: The James Hearst Legacy

The James & Meryl Hearst Center for the Arts announces the debut of its grant project entitled James Hearst: Interpreting “The Farmstead” funded, in part, by a grant award from Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area. The Hearst Center recently added James Hearst’s poetry to the Hearst Sculpture Garden. They have also launched cell phone tours featuring archival recordings of James Hearst reading his poetry, as well as individual Hearst Center room histories.
