Fashion Design From the courts of Marie Antoinette to modern designers, fashion continues to influence our everyday lives. This course will cover the basic principles of fashion, giving you a taste for what it takes to create your own line of clothing. You will focus on the alteration and manipulation of existing patterns and garments along with the sewing skills to create original, creative designs. Additionally you will learn embellishment, basic millinery, and an introduction to the making of accessories.

Make your mark at the Historic Daniel Boone Home & Heritage Center in Defiance, Missouri. Boone's Osage Expedition Day Camp promises excitement and adventure as kids between the ages of 10 - 18 learn how to survive on Missouri's Frontier. Participants will learn frontier skills such as blacksmithing, animal tracking, soap making, Tomahawk throwing, Frontier dance and music, Dutch Oven Cooking and much more! Meet young local artists and enjoy musical performances by Major Chords for Minors. Together with students from Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (SASA), visitors can fashion fun take-home art projects. The SASA students’ original artwork will be available for purchase throughout the day.

Music, visual art and stories all come together at the MMCM. Listen to the beloved story Where the Wild Things Are. Then, make your own Wild Thing puppet in Art Mart! Watch a movie about Wild Things, and enter a drawing to win a copy of the book.

Bring mom for a free play date, and make a special Mother’s Day craft for her.

Join Kara as she leads visitors in painting colorful mural panels for the museum. Two sessions are available at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Visitors can also create personal musical shakers in the Art Mart.

Visitors to the MMCM will enjoy listening to volunteers read the popular book Mouse Painting. While you are here, stop by the Art Mart, choose a face-painting design and try your hand at easel painting using secondary colors.
