Kids can try their hands at traditional Japanese games while parents shop at our Japanese marketplace.

As it turns out, Mother Nature is afraid of the dark too. How else can you explain all of those night lights in the forest, in the ground, and in the sea? Everywhere you look in the natural night there are critters aglow – from fireflies to jellyfish to worms and snails. In the most recent exhibition to grace the halls of the Museum of Idaho, Glow: Living Lights explores one of nature’s most peculiar and least understood phenomena – bioluminescence. Bring your curiosity. Bring your sense of wonder. But leave your night light at home. Mother Nature has that covered.

The home school classes are offered in 4 week intervals at the Dunwood Center in Fox Point. The classes are held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. over a 4 week period for a total of 8 hours of instruction. Classes are offered in a format to allow for families who have children across more than one age group. *Class sizes range from 12 to 20 students. We do not over enroll classes. *Jr. classes must have a minimum of 8 students. All other classes must have a minimum of 10 students.

Ecozone Discovery Room! Sunday, October 19 – 1:00-4:00pm $2 per person Climb into a bald eagle’s nest, crawl into a bat cave, and dig in a fossil pit! Explore this indoor discovery room and enjoy hands-on exhibits on natural history, sustainability and the local environment. No registration required.

Nature at Night Saturday, October 18 – 6:00-8:00pm $5 A cool fall evening is the perfect time to head outside. Take a walk in the woods to listen for owls, look at stars, and enjoy the music of the night. Enjoy fun activities that test your night vision.
