All proceeds benefit the Foundry Art Centre, supporting its community events & programs provided throughout the year as the FAC strives to make art accessible for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age or economic barrier. Registration is open to the first 35 tables and is $160 for tables of eight people.

Sat. May 11 Mother’s Day Weekend Bring mom and grandmom on Saturday to celebrate Mother’s Day at Sharp’s at Waterford Farm! Bring a container, or purchase one of ours, and choose from our large selection of beautiful flowers or herbs and make a special Mother’s Day container. We supply the soil, fertilizer, and the mulch for your planter for free. (You just pay for whatever plants you pick out for the container.) Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery of our 530 acre farm. At 4 PM, we will offer a free hayride that will take you around our farm and through the Cattail Creek.

Ponds, Puddles, & Creeks Open House

Friday, June 28th 10 – 11:30 Ponds, Puddles, & Creeks Open House - Your guide will bring you by hayride to the Cattail Creek. Make sure you wear old tennis shoes or water shoes as we go into the creek to catch a variety of the critters that live there. After catching them, we take time to identify what we have found, and learn about their habitats and life cycles. After releasing the critters we head back to the barnyard to feed the farm animals! $7.00/child Adults are free! Register on or before June 27th. We are also offering our “Healthy Eats” option.

Friday June 21st 10-11:30 Wonderful World of Worms Open House - Your guide will teach the children about worms and their role in composting. Some questions that will be addressed are; What is vermi-composting? How does composting benefit the environment? How do you build a compost pile? What part do worms play in the composting process? Bring a baggie of food scraps as we will go through all the steps of how to make a compost pile! Everyone will pot a plant to take home! A hayride and feeding the farm animals is also included! $7.00/child Adults are free!

Thursday, April 25th 12 – 1:30 Spring Is Growing Open House - Children will begin this program in our barn classroom where they will learn about the parts of a seed; germination; how seeds travel; and how seeds grow into plants. They will take a tour of our working greenhouses and observe plants at various stages of growth. The children will also learn about the farm animals and have an opportunity to feed them. The program concludes with a fun filled hayride that goes through the Cattail Creek! All children will pot their own plant to take home with them. $6.50/child Adults are free!

Civil War in the Southwest at Picacho Peak State Park

10 am to 4 pm. Each year hundreds of spectators descend on Picacho Peak State Park to watch re-enactments of an Arizona Civil War skirmish and the New Mexico battles of Glorieta and Val Verde. Visitors travel from around the country to experience three fascinating historic battle re-enactments complete with lifestyles of the soldiers in the southwest during the 1860s. More than 200 re-enactors come from many states and will camp at the park with their authentic Civil War camping gear. Food and beverage concessions are also available, including the popular Kettle corn vendor.

Arizona Family Campout Program

The new 2013 Arizona Family Campout Program (March and April 2013) is designed for families that have little or no experience camping. We hope to introduce families to the unique experiences one can share with their family by exploring the great outdoors! These weekend introductory adventures are taking place at the five Arizona State Parks throughout Spring 2013. Parks include Catalina SP (Tucson), Kartchner Caverns SP (Benson), Lost Dutchman SP (Apache Junction), Dead Horse Ranch SP (Cottonwood), and Patagonia Lake SP (Patagonia). 2013 Archaeology Expo: Life on the Edge: Feast or Famine in Arizona’s Past

March is Archaeology and Heritage Awareness month in Arizona and each year we celebrate with an Archaeology Expo. This years expo will offer many educational attractions for archaeology and history buffs, and will be located at the historic Horseshoe Ranch on the Agua Fria National Monument, north of Phoenix (I-17, Exit 259). The Expo is open to the public and is FREE. Arizona Game & Fish Department and the Bureau of Land Management are co-hosting the event.
