Visit the Historic Daniel Boone Home for a different kind of Halloween treat. Travel back to a time where not everything is as it appears. The Historic Daniel Boone Home and Boonesfield Village is hosting their annual Halloween Event on October 24, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Walk the lantern-lit paths to the Boone Home and hear stories of ghosts and goblins that will prickle your skin. Then proceed down to Boonesfield Village to hear hauntingly good music and tales of unexplained things in the night.

Pioneer Days is a pre 1840’s Folkways Festival for the whole family to enjoy. The Historic Daniel Boone Home and Boonesfield Village is transformed into a frontier encampment where sounds of music, artisans at work, children’s laughter, and gunfire fill the air. Pioneer Days will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 and Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be activities for the entire family to participate in. Children will be able to join in on tomahawk throwing, sac races, graces, tug of war, and other period games.

Photography 101. 4-6 pm. Get to know your digital camera and learn how to capture a great shot every time! You’ll also be shown how to digitally enhance your photographs. Beginning Bead Making and Hemp Jewelry. Two-week session, 9/7 & 9/14. 4-6 p.m. Make your own funky polymer clay beads and pendants in the first class, then use them in your own handmade jewelry in the second class when you learn basic hemp weaves. The Skating Club of Boston MetroWest is hosting an Open House at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA. This event is open to all ages and is from 4:00 - 6:10pm. There will be free skating lessons, staff introductions, discounts on programsand skating demonstrations. Rental skates are limited and people are encouraged to bring their own. Check-n for the skating lessons is from 4:00 - 4:30pm.

Celebrate the harvest and learn about fall on the plantation! There will be presentations throughout the day about our short-staple cotton crops and the harvesting process, the art of wood chopping and fire starting, and our honeybee hives. Talk to beekeepers about the importance of honeybees on the farm! Also learn how 19th century people prepared for winter and see 19th century food preservation techniques in the kitchen and candle making in the cabin. Homeschoolers can also make corn art to keep and start their own farm weather journals.
