Join us to celebrate Katie! Katie Serewicz (1950–2011) was a creative powerhouse. She worked as a professional artist in her early life, designing sport clothing and stationary. She later found her true niche and passion in art therapy. Katie was one of the founders of The Art Experience, a community art studio in Pontiac serving people with and without disabilities. Trained in art therapy, the founders stressed the value of the experience of doing art—for everyone.

Monthly Art Journaling Workshops

A monthly workshop for those who want an opportunity to let your inner child play and to give yourself some regular time to be creative. This group is for the beginner and experienced alike. Learn techniques for preparing pages from others or share some of your own. Some materials provided. Facilitated by Sue Nimlin, retired occupational therapist and lifelong artist. Pre-registration required by the Monday prior to the workshop.

Begindergarten's Art Story

Children will have fun learning about different artists through imitating their artwork of various medium and styles. Featured artists are Picasso, O’Keefe, Hokusai, and Kahlo. Youth will create soft sculpture, floral, landscape and portraits using the technique of collage, pastel and prints. Supplies included. Taught by Ester Mauricio. Ages 4-6. Must register 1 week in advance.

Lego Play!

Bring your imagination to life with your own uniquely designed Lego creation! For an additional $ 2.00, children, age 4-12, can spend some time in our classroom filled with Lego. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free to MMCM members. All Lego will remain at the MMCM for the next Lego Play Day!

Power Play Saturday

Children ages 10 and younger will learn how to keep their heart and body healthy in a fun way. Kid-friendly nutrition advice, exercise demonstrations, take-home crafts, a hula-hoop contest, D.J. dance music, and lots of prizes and gifts make this day a must for every family. Admission is $5 all day. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - Saginaw Alumnae Chapter, MCVI Foundation, and other local partners.
