Preschool Program: Seedlings A science-based enrichment program for preschoolers Young children discover the wonders of the desert alongside their caregiver in our nature-based preschool program. We use music, stories, arts & crafts, nature walks, movement, touch, and observation to explore a new theme each week. Guided by caring and experienced teachers, Seedlings blends the Garden’s unique resources with imaginative and fun ways to learn about plants and animals in our desert backyard.

Amazing Arctic Artifacts (Drop-in)

Recommended for children ages 7-12 with an accompanying adult. Free with Peabody Museum admission. Ever wonder what caribou fur clothing feels like? Or how people traditionally hunted seals? Or how snow knives and snow goggles work? Come find out as we explore traditional arctic life in this artifact-based, hands-on program. Then make and decorate your own snow goggles to take home!

Mesoamerican Calendars and 2012 (Drop-in Family Event)

Free with Peabody Museum admission. Recommended for ages 8 and up accompanied by an adult. Are you curious about why 2012 is so special in one of the Maya calendars? Come explore the calendars of the Maya and the Aztecs and learn how 2012 is actually the beginning of a new cycle and not the end of time. And don’t miss the projects to make and take home!

New Years Eve Day Party!

Count down every hour on the hour with noisemakers and family fun to ring in the new year, 2013! Party hats and noisemakers for everyone! Enjoy the Joel Tacey Comedy Show at noon, followed by parachute play, bounce house fun, and gallery games. Popcorn and ice cream available all day. Don’t forget to check out the sales in the gift shop. Everything is marked to sell.

Holiday Break Camp

For ages 5-11

One Day: $30 per child /$25 for MMCM members;

Both Days: $55 per child /$50 for MMCM members (each day will have different activities)

Bring your own lunch and beverage each day. A snack will be provided.

Farm Animals Adventure

Take a live adventure with us through the internet to Hartley Nature Center. See farm animals, and learn about their habitat, characteristics and uses on the farm. Please arrive by 2:45, as the program starts promptly at 3:00 p.m. This classroom setting is limited to 40 children. Bring your questions for this fun, educational and interactive experience.
