Join us for a farm mini-vacation including lunching at the creek. We begin in the barnyard, feeding the friendly farm animals and then leisurely ride the haywagon with our picnic lunches to the creek. We will explore what is living in the creek, the Cattail, a stream flowing into the Triadelphia Reservoir. Then lunch and relax stream side. Bring a lunch. Tour time: 10 A.M. – Noon Cost: $8.00/person Ages: Family event, under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required on or before 8/12. Your guide will bring you by hayride to the Cattail Creek. Make sure you wear old tennis shoes or water shoes as we go into the creek to catch a variety of critters that live there. (Nets are provided or you can bring your own.) After catching the critters we take time to identify what we have found and learn about their life cycles and habitats. We then head back to the barnyard to feed the farm animals! Tour time:10 -11:30 A.M. Cost: $8.00/child Adults are free Ages: 4 years & up Registration is required on or before 7/28. Wonderful World of Worms Open House at Sharp Farm

This is a great introduction geared toward children as to the importance of composting and how worms help in the process! We will learn all about the worms and have an opportunity to watch them in our barn classroom. Bring a baggie of old food scraps as we will go through the steps in making a compost pile. The children will pot a plant to take home. A hayride and feeding the farm animals is also included. Tour time: 10-11:30 A.M. Learn to be a farmer. It is a relaxed 2 hours of animal feeding & farm chores. We’ll discuss farm sustainability and learn some Ag history. Sessions will be held the second Saturday of each month through July and a special pond and creek event in August. Each session will be different as we move through the farming season. But gardening, animals, farm history and old tools and methods, Ag ecology and sustainability will be our focus. In each session there is a scavenger hunt for all interested in testing their observational skills.

Alternative Mother's Day Open House at Sharp Farm

Design a gardening container for mom! Make an herb or flower container of all of her favorites. We’ll top it with cocoa bark mulch and a Happy Mother’s Day tag. The plants, soil & cocoa mulch are included in the fee. Our staff will help you create a memorable planter & outing. Then join us to feed the hungry farm animals and for a scenic hayride through the farm and across the Cattail Creek. Top off the day by bringing a picnic dinner and feast by the pond at our picnic site. Tour time: 3 – 5 P.M.

Spring is Grow Time Open House at Sharp Farm

Spring is Grow Time! All public schools systems are closed so we invite you to join us for this special program! We will discuss seeds, plants, composting and baby farm animals. Learn about the parts of a seed and their function, how seeds travel, germination and more. Composting is also discussed in the barn classroom. What it is and how to compost are some of the topics discussed.Take a tour of our working greenhouse & see the many varieties and sizes of plants. All children will pot a plant to take home. We then head out to the barn yard to learn about the baby animals.
