Explore the history, ecology, and conservation of Florida's spectacular plant and animal life. Programs start every half-hour from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Members free; students ages 5 and up $6; adults $4. 7-year old Piano Prodigy, Naomi Yamaguchi to Perform at MMCM

Seven-year-old piano prodigy Naomi Yamaguchi has won several awards for her piano-playing skills and even earned a trip to Carnegie Hall. Naomi, a student at Holy Family in Rochester Hills, is taught piano by Catherine Rollin. Naomi, who loves to compose as well as play music, started playing piano at age 4. Last year, she started to compete and she, so far, has won every competition she has entered. The first win came at the Albion College Piano Festival in October 2010.

September 4 Sunday in The Park -- Bugs! Colossal Cave Mountain Park presents a cool experience with the small critter world. Slide show and critter hunt—this is one of our most popular events and is presented by the dynamic Carl Olson. Carl Olson is the Associate Curator of Entomology from the University of Arizona; this is his 8th year with Sunday in the Park. Join us for a fun and informative time! Presentation at 2:00 pm with bug hunt at 3:15 pm. Colossal Cave Mountain Park is located at 16721 E. Old Spanish Trail, Vail, AZ Event is free.

Central Minnesota Fall Rally and Used Book Sale – HEY organization (St. Cloud)

All area homeschoolers are invited to the HEY Fall Rally.  There will be a short business meeting followed by guest speakers.  The Used Book/Vendor Sale will be immediately following the speakers.

Chris Friedman will present “Helping Your Child Love Learning”.  There will also be a panel discussion.  The panel will include new homes choolers, veteran home schoolers, and those who have been home schooled themselves.  It is certainly shaping up to be a wonderful evening.

Story Time with Senator Kahn and Toy Testing for Harmful Chemicals

The Michigan Network for Children's Environmental Health (MNCEH) and Senator Dr. Roger Kahn will be at the Mid-Michigan Children's Museum on Thursday, August 11th between 10:30am-1:30pm. The MNCEH is a coalition of non-profit organizations from around the state working to protect Michigan's families and kids from toxic chemicals. The MNCEH will have their XRF testing device with them, which immediately detects toxic substances in consumer products. You're encouraged to bring in your children's toys and products and the MNCEH will test them for free.
