We are all concerned about our children, especially when we hear some of the horror stories about bullying. What can you do to make schools and communities safer for kids? Join the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida in making a difference during UpStander Day! Families of all ages are invited to attend the free UpStander Day at Lake Eola Park on October 2, 2011 from 3-5 PM. The event will begin as we all stand up and take a leisurely walk around beautiful Lake Eola.

This year’s Homeschool Day offers your family the exciting chance to explore The Mariners’ Museum at a reduced rate while participating in scheduled programs. For only $7.50 per student, your children will enjoy scavenger hunts, crafts, and two of the following interactive classes: Christopher Columbus and the Great Exchange, K-2nd; Age of Exploration, 3rd-5th and 6th-12th; Piracy, K-4th and 5th-12th; Big Winds, Big Waves: the Science of Hurricanes, 5th-12th.

Pilgrim History & Campfire at Sharp's at Waterford Farm

All homeschoolers & their families are welcome to join us for our "Pilgrim History" program. All guides will be in costume. The children will learn about the Pilgrims' home life, their chores, their games, & also about their relationship to the Native Americans. We will take a hayride across the fields & through the Cattail Creek. The hayride will drop everyone off at the campfire site. Bring a bag lunch & a long stick & some marshmallows to roast over the fire. We will provide the hot chocolate! Program is from 10AM to 12PM with the campfire following.

We cordially invite all homeschool families to join us for "Pilgrim History" program from noon to 2PM. History comes to life as all our guides are in costume. Children will learn about the Pilgrims' home life, the chores thePilgrim children did, the games they played, & also about the Pilgrims' relationship to the Native Americans. The program will conclude with a hayride that goes over our fields & through the Cattail Creek. The cost is $7.25/child Adults are free! Registration is required on or before Nov.

Come enjoy the challenge of our 10+ acre educational corn maze. This year the theme is "Friends & Foes of the Farmer".You will learn about the benefits of bats & other things that make farmers happy & the things that make for a grumpy farmer, including the stink bug!When you are done the maze, hop aboard the free hayride to pick your own family pumpkins; make a family scarecrow; feed the farm animals, visit our country store & much more!

The program will include a barn class on beekeeping & farm crops, feeding the farm animals, going through the mini corn maze, taking a fun hayride over our fields & through the Cattail Creek, & harvest your own pumpkin to take home with you! Cost is $6.75/child Adults are free! Registration is required by Oct. 20th.
