CMC’s Musical Discovery Camp introduces kids to the world of musical sounds and the joys of making music. Previous experience singing or playing an instrument is welcome but not required. The week’s activities will include singing, rhythm work, and a basic introduction to music theory. Kids will participate in a hands-on exploration of the many ways musical sounds are produced using unconventional musical artifacts – instruments made out of everyday objects.

Camp CMC: An Ensemble Camp for Young Musicians

Kids, make great music and great friends at Community Music Center this summer! Camp CMC, a weeklong summer camp, offers kids the chance to play with other musicians and have fun together. Activities alternate between chamber group, ensemble, theory and musicianship classes. Students will be grouped in ensembles by instrument and level. Campers will also participate in activities designed to develop general musicianship skills, such as playing percussion instruments, singing, and rhythmic movement.

CMC’s Kids ¡Bomba! Camp

Through drumming, singing, dancing and storytelling, children learn about Bomba, a 300-year-old Afro-Puerto Rican tradition, and its connections to other Caribbean musical forms. Activities are designed to help children develop musicianship, body coordination and expressiveness, and bi-lingual literacy skills in a fun and supportive group environment. This weeklong camp is staffed by a dynamic team of experienced artists and educators, and culminates with an informal multi-disciplinary performance where campers share what they learned with their families and friends.

Ponds, Puddles & Creeks Open House at Sharp's at Waterford Farm

Wednesday, June 25th 10 – 11:30 Ponds, Puddles, & Creeks Your guide will bring you by hayride to the Cattail Creek. Make sure you wear old tennis shoes or water shoes as we go into the creek to catch a variety of the critters that live there. After catching them, we take time to identify what we have found, and learn about their habitats and life cycles. After releasing the critters we head back to the barnyard to feed the farm animals! $7.50/child Register on or before June 24th. We are also offering our “Healthy Eats” option.

Friday June 20th 10-11:30 Wonderful World of Worms Your guide will teach the children about worms and their role in composting. Some questions that will be addressed are; What is vermi-composting? How does composting benefit the environment? How do you build a compost pile? What part do worms play in the composting process? Bring a baggie of food scraps as we will go through all the steps of how to make a compost pile! Everyone will pot a plant to take home! A hayride and feeding the farm animals is also included!

Spring is Growing Open House at Sharp's at Waterford Farm

Monday, April 21st 12 – 1:30 ALL SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED! We will be offering our Spring Is Growing program. Children will begin this program in our barn classroom where they will learn about the parts of a seed; germination; how seeds travel; and how seeds grow into plants. They will take a tour of our working greenhouses and observe plants at various stages of growth. The children will also learn about the farm animals and have an opportunity to feed them. The program concludes with a fun filled hayride that goes through the Cattail Creek!

4th Annual Central Maine Homeschool Expo

The Central Maine Homeschool Expo is a family fun one day event (free admission but registration required).  Joaquin Fernandez is the keynote speaker, he is the producer of the movie IndoctriNation.
www.watchindoctrination.com has a 30 minute segment you can watch.
 At the Expo you will find vendors of crafts, national curriculum suppliers, local businesses, used curriculum, and chlid entrepeneurs.
There are lots of activities on sight as well that include pony rides and a petting zoo.
