Introduction to Fly-Tying for Middle & High School Students

New Pond Farm Education Center's Program Director Tim Laughlin, a veteran fly-tyer, would like to introduce you to the art of fly tying. Join in tying a “Woolly bugger” that you will take home once it is finished. Once started this could become a lifelong hobby! During five action-packed days children (ages 8-12) may become a beekeeper, a farmer, a naturalist, a vegetable gardener, a chef, an artist, a treasure hunter, or a scientist! Form friendships with our residential campers from Norwalk, Bridgeport, & Danbury, while eating delicious foods from the garden and dairy, swimming in our crystal clear pool, going on a campout, and enjoying loads of fun games and activities! New Pond Farm's Summer Shakespeare

Get ready for songs, shipwrecks, and sword fights in Shakespeare’s famous comedy of mistaken identity, practical jokes, re-united siblings, and unrequited love in William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. This engaging three-week theatre program for students entering grades 7-11 with director Nancy Ponturo will incorporate acting, movement, and voice. Students will become more familiar with the intricacies of the Shakespearean language, garner a sound knowledge of the text, and get a glimpse into life in Elizabethan times as they prepare for their performances.

Lodestone Academy is offering summer camp between June 10 through August 16. Parents have the option of signing up weekly. Summer camp offered for student in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Includes two slots, 9-12pm and 9-6pm. Book Club is offered in one to two week increments for grades one through eight. Fun and engaging classes insured by PBS shows and TED Talks offered for students in grades one through ninth grade. Foreign language, such as Korean, Spanish, Chinese offered multiple times during the summer. Beginner classes only.
