Triple Talent Workshop (Sing | Dance | Act)

Two sections of 90-min workshops: Ages 7-12 2:30-4pm and Ages 13+ 6:30-8pm (enrollment is flexible based on skills and class size.) In this fun class which is open to all skill levels, students will begin to develop singing and acting skills while they move musically. Students will foster positive relationships with budding artists their age and will learn what to expect at auditions; receiving advice about preparing a resume, headshots, and singing repertoire. WHAT TO BRING: Stretchy clothing. Sneakers or jazz shoes.

Film Acting Camp: Teens June 17-21, 2019

Film acting camp: youth actors will not only learn about acting on film, they will act on film! From auditions to wrapping the production, actors go through the entire process of participating in a digital short film, all in an educational, instructional and fun environment. Learn character development, acting skills, camera technique and the differences and similarities between stage and film acting. Each camp is limited to 10 participants; the script is custom written for the students enrolled.

Skywatching: Latitude Observatory Turns 120

Gaithersburg’s International Latitude Observatory turns 120 - celebrate with activities related to the geodetic science that was done at the site. Tours of the park at 12:30 and 2:30, tours of the Observatory, hands-on activities & birthday cake at 1:00. Visit with the National Geodetic Survey, part of NOAA and the agency that first had oversight of the Observatory, will be here with hands-on activities and displays. This program is also part of Montgomery County Heritage Days. SOME SPECIFICS: Limited accessible parking adjacent to the park.

Heritage Days

Each year, Heritage Montgomery hosts Heritage Days on the last weekend of June. Sponsored by HM since 2004, this FREE festival highlights historic, cultural, and outdoor recreation sites offering special programs including exhibits & demonstrations, live music, activities for children, and much more! Heritage Days is the perfect chance to enjoy many small sites that are not regularly open to the public. Heritage Days takes place Saturday and Sunday from noon - 4:00 p.m. See you there! Discovery Day: Going Green

Have fun exploring how we can all do our part to GO GREEN and help save our planet in the process. The Montgomery County Recycling Center and the City of Gaithersburg Stormwater Management Team host an afternoon of experiments, make-and-take activities, displays, and demonstrations. There will be tours of Olde Towne Plaza and its unique stormwater management features at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Flag Day Ceremony

The Gaithersburg Community Museum with Boy Scout Troop 1760 will hold a Flag Retirement Ceremony in Olde Towne Plaza. Seating is limited so we recommend you bring a lawn chair. Train Days

Discover the magic of trains at the Gaithersburg Community Museum’s Train Day. Visitors are invited to celebrate Gaithersburg’s long and storied history with the railroad. Enjoy an N-Gauge model train display presented by BANTRAK members, explore vintage rail cars, and participate in train-related activities. With any luck visitors can also enjoy the sights and sounds of the actual CSX and AMTRAK trains that frequently rumble past the Museum.

Storytime Station

The Gaithersburg Community Museum invites you and your child to enjoy monthly book readings during “Storytime Station,” an enriching 45-minute program recommended for ages 3 to 6. Readings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. We are in the middle of a two year exploration of the alphabet. May - Pp June - Qq July - Rr August - Ss September - Tt October - Uu November - Vv Admission is $3 per child, adults and infants are free. Advance purchase is recommended as space is limited.
