Join us for a fun-filled morning, learning new skills and discovering new interests! Friday, January 10, 2020: Science of Chill K-2: Now that’s cool! Paint with ice, experiment with sublimation bubbles, compete in a red vs. blue (hot vs. cold) food coloring race and more. 3-4: We’re off to the Arctic! Paint rocks with cold weather animals, experiment with sublimation bubbles, test blubber gloves and more. 5-8: Freeze!

In celebration of the winter solstice, make snow, create a winter tree craft with your handprint, make a diorama of the four seasons and more. 3-4: It’s a winter wonderland! Learn about the seasons, craft a snowy tree with bubble wrap, see a planetarium show about the seasons and more. 5-8: Let it snow!

Free Open House Fun, hands-on SETM activities for the whole family!

Discover the magic of trains at the Gaithersburg Community Museum’s Train Day. Visitors are invited to celebrate Gaithersburg’s long and storied history with the railroad. Enjoy an N-Gauge model train display presented by BANTRAK members, explore vintage rail cars, and participate in train-related activities. With any luck visitors can also enjoy the sights and sounds of the actual CSX and AMTRAK trains that frequently rumble past the Museum. In addition, the locomotive will be open for those adventurous and dexterous enough to climb up into it (cannot meet accessibility standards).

Admission is free with no reservations required. Donations to cover program costs are appreciated. Have fun exploring, experimenting, and playing with magnets. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
