Portraits can do more than just show an image of a person, they can show their soul and energy. During this workshop, teen artists will complete an expressionist portrait of a person of their choosing. Using a reference photo(s), that students should bring, they will learn to paint a portrait that is representative of their subject physically and emotionally. Students will learn technical skills including proportions of the face, color mixing, and composition, as well as soft skills such as using color intuitively and painting expressively with emotion.

In this workshop students will examine the meaning of dreams and create a mixed media dreamscape. Instructor will introduce students to use of gel transferring techniques to print images onto canvas, layering these images with text collage and acrylic paint. The result will be personal, unique and visually impacting artwork! In this class, you’ll learn the basics of hand- and machine-sewing, fabric preparation, and sewing room safety. Participants will complete several project samples and a fun pillow using the skills they’ve learned. Our instructor will get your wheel piece started, and you and your child will complete it! (Must be at least 5 years old to participate in Thrown from the Wheel workshop.)

In each workshop, parents and their little ones will explore fiber and textile crafts they can do together. Enjoy this tactile learning experience and gain new skills in the areas of nature painting, wet felting, ornament-making and other interesting textile-related crafts. Children and parents may work on the same project or parents may work on a more advanced fiber-related project while their little ones explore a simpler version of the same craft. Instructions for both will be shared during class each week. There is $5 supply fee per class due to the instructor. Take one or take them all!
