Math Kangaroo Competition is an international, once a year event, always held on the third Thursday in March. Any student in grades 1 through 12 qualifies if he or she can work independently: read and answer a multiple choice test. Each student receives a t-shirt, a certificate of participation, and a gift in addition to a competition booklet and a pencil on the test day. Comet ISON Viewing Party

The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center will host COFFEE & COMET, a very early morning viewing party for Comet ISON on Tuesday, November 26, at 5:30AM! The Space Geek Team will fling open the Ticketing Rotunda and be ready to track the passing of ISON over Balboa Park! Galileo’s Café will be open—you can pre-order a light breakfast, or purchase coffee and munchies that morning. Join us to get all the breaking news about Comet ISON as it streaks through the sky over San Diego and is visible to us (weather and marine layer permitting, of course!).

Winter Break Camp

For ages 5 – 10 Camp Cost: $30 per child/$25 for MMCM members Cost includes snack and supplies. Children must bring a lunch, beverage, and outdoor clothing. It may be cold outside, but things are heating up at the MMCM! Campers can fill a day on break with all kinds of winter activities. Try snowflake stamping, make a ski jump art project and your own snowman (out of something unexpected!). Investigate weather patterns in different parts of the world, including your own neighborhood. Learn about seasonal changes, temperature, dew and frost, condensation, and more.
