Engaging, hands-on live animal presentations, that meet CA Life Science Standards for Kindergarten through middle school. Close Encounter programs occur at the San Francisco Zoo and are 45-minute lessons featuring 4-5 program animals with specific curriculum. Pre- and post-program resources are also available. December 4 - Habitats for grades 3 and 4 Compare life in different habitats such as desert, rain forest, and grasslands. Students will get a first-hand look at some of the animals from these biomes and learn about their amazing adaptations for survival. In this 45 minute lesson with live animals, students will learn concepts described in the CA Life Science Standards as follows: 3 - 3a-c 4 - 2a & 2b, 3b & 3c January 8 - Animal Classification for grades 2 and 3 Students will be introduced to the five categories of animals with a backbone: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Life cycles, eating habits, locomotion, and habitats will all be discussed. In this 45 minute lesson with live animals, students will learn concepts described in the CA Life Science Standards as follows: 2 - 2a & 2b 3 - 3a, 3b, 3d, & 3e Fees: $15 per student/adult pair per class.
