This unique traveling exhibition developed by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center contains images and video taken from the Hubble Space Telescope of planets, galaxies, black holes and many other fascinating cosmic entities.
Plus, opening night festivities will include guest speaker Russell L. Werneth with presentations at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Mr. Werneth is an aerospace engineer at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland and was the Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) Manager for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Project.
Seating for Mr. Werneth's presentations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis after all reserved Members have entered.
And, a FREE Star Party!
Sponsored by M & M Communications Concepts.
Held in conjunction with the Hubble: New Views of the Universe traveling exhibition opening night event, Sci-Port's January Star Party will feature images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, which has provided 20 years of unprecedented service. Few observatories can accomplish the remarkably breathtaking images Hubble has yielded. Rich with both visual and scientific content, some of Hubble's images are recognized as the top discoveries in the field of astronomy. Hubble gazed at the Orion Nebula in the mid-2000's, revealing a star-making factory and a treasure-trove of other astronomical goodies. Stop in to the Dayna & Ronald L. Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium and learn about this stellar nursery. Then, head up to the Windham Family Rooftop Terrace for a chance to check out the Orion Nebula and the constellation Orion. Use one of Sci-Port's telescopes, or bring your own to view these and other celestial delights draped in the night sky! Counter Culture will be open for your dinner order.
