Fluor Idaho, in conjunction with the Museum of Idaho and National Engineering Week, will hold an Engineering Day for area students on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Activities will take place at the Museum of Idaho. Grades K- 6 will be meeting in the Education Center, grades 7- 12 will be meeting in the museum. Students from grades Kindergarten to 6th will have the chance to understand the engineering that goes into designing catapults, with contests for most accurate shot. While things will flying with younger students, older students from grades 7 to 12 will be learning how to engineer water filtration systems to protect aquifers. Prizes will be awarded for the best design. Museum of Idaho and Fluor Idaho employees will be mentoring students and helping to explain the engineering principles of both projects. It’s a fun day for students and parents alike and a chance to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. There is no cost for the Engineering Day activities. Students will receive FREE admission to the exhibit after participating in an Engineering Day activity. (Student must be accompanied by an adult at regular admission price.)
