Class Description Daily from July 6th to July 10th, from 1:30pm-3:30pm In this intensive you will practice and play with the basics of bookbinding, especially the Coptic stitch. You will design your perfect sketchbook or journal, select and cut the paper, decorate the covers, and bind your book. Afterward, you will explore a variety of collage techniques including print, layer, cut, combine, paint, draw and much more. Students are welcome to bring magazines or other favorite imagery. This class will meet for 1.5 - 2 hours with one break. The instructor will be available for additional feedback during the day over email. Special Notes Please have a pencil and scissors available for your participant. Other optional supplies to have include markers, colored pencils and magazines for collage. All other supplies will be provided in a supply kit available for curbside pick up from the Durham Arts Council the week before the class. Kits are yours to keep to continue working once the class completes. This class will be taught on Zoom. A link will be sent a few days before the class start date. Instructor(s) Jessica makes ceramics for free spirits. She loves creating porcelain jewelry and home decor in small, thoughtful batches. Her design sensibility is fueled by a desire to create inspiring objects for creative people who enjoy being surrounded by delightful handmade things as they live, work, play and move about their day. Jessica is in love with color, shape and pattern. She deeply enjoys teaching ceramics, community building, golden hour, homemade donuts, forest bathing and lots of coffee. Jessica believes in magic.
