Two classes in photography are offered at the Cranbrook Summer Art Institute, which offers many art classes for teenagers throughout the summer. Darkroom Photography uses two-person darkrooms and the opportunity for students to learn in-depth how to operate a camera, expose and develop film, make quality prints, and ultimately express themselves creatively. Digital Photo + Video takes advantage of the fact that many digital cameras are also good for video. This class works with studio lighting and on-location shooting, plus learning to work in Adobe Photoshop and iMovie, to produce both still images as well as short videos.
