Less than 125 working carousels are left in the United States, and the pastime of carving, designing, and riding carousels is dwindling. Join Dick Withycombe, master carver for A Carousel for Missoula, as he shares his experience in rebuilding a historic carousel with the community in Missoula, MT. Utilizing his master carving skills, Withycombe inform audiences on the art of his carving and the demands necessary to complete their historic carousel (which included over 100,000 hours of volunteer work from the community). Tickets are $5/person and can be purchased in advance from the museum main desk or at the door. The presentation will take place in the Maeck Family Foundation Center located in the northwest part of the museum’s parking lot.
