September 13. Japanese Festival. 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Celebrate the history, culture and people of Japan at the Memphis Botanic Garden Japanese Festival, featuring demonstrations on tea ceremony, origami, chopsticks, kimono dressing, Bon odori, koi ponds, and more. Be amazed by the Candyman from Epcot as he creates works of art from spun sugar! Enjoy the energizing sounds of Kaminari Taiko drummers. Kids can try their hands at traditional Japanese games while parents shop at our Japanese marketplace. Enjoy a taste of Japan with concessions by Sekisui as well as guided tour of our Japanese Garden. This year's festival will take place on the TruGreen Lawn, with performances on our new Jim Duncan Stage! Special thanks to Japanese Traders and Manufacturers Association of Memphis, First Tennessee Foundation, Sekisui, Ikebana International, The University of Memphis and Japan America Society of TN.
