The event will be hosted by Abraham Lincoln High School. Homeschooled groups and individuals are warmly invited to attend! Concert details: Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Guest Conductor Julian Wachner, and countertenor Andreas Scholl will help our audience to discover fantastic musical elements that have made baroque music popular for over two centuries. Wachner, Director of Music and The Arts for New York’s Trinity Wall Street, will shine the spotlight on a J.S. Bach Sinfonia with a famously virtuosic bassoon part; a Brandenburg Concerto by Bach that pits triplets against sixteenth notes amidst hunting calls; and a concerto movement by Telemann that features a lively pairing of horns. This concert will also offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to hear the world renowned countertenor Andreas Scholl sing the famous aria, ”Va Tacito", from Handel’s Giulio Cesare. The more we discover what to listen for, the more magical and entertaining the music becomes! The performers will share the distinctive sound of their own authentic instruments, show how the instruments evolved, and provide lively commentary about the composers and their times. Projected visual aids will enrich the presentation.
