Fashion Design From the courts of Marie Antoinette to modern designers, fashion continues to influence our everyday lives. This course will cover the basic principles of fashion, giving you a taste for what it takes to create your own line of clothing. You will focus on the alteration and manipulation of existing patterns and garments along with the sewing skills to create original, creative designs. Additionally you will learn embellishment, basic millinery, and an introduction to the making of accessories. At the end of the class we will put on a fashion show where your outfits and accessories take center stage. Instructor: Dana Keaton-Wilson has been designing her "Dana Keaton Collection" for the past 15 years and also holds a BS in Business and a MBA in Marketing. Dana has been featured in StyleLine, BLAC and Hour Magazines. She served as a Senior Web Designer at Ford, an instructor at College for Creative Studies, and is currently an instructor at Youthville in Detroit. She has twice won awards for her fashion instruction. Visit her website here.
