Naked Apple Tribe
Naked Apple exists to encourage, support, and build up the local community of homeschool families, reaching out in the name of Jesus Christ. The co-op brings together homeschooling families to support each other in their calling of teaching their children. Every family has a different reason and vision behind the choice to homeschool, and Naked Apple cultivates a community that encourages and supports families in achieving their vision. Naked Apple provides a wholesome educational experience in small group settings working in a cooperative manner, with parents filling many different roles within the co-op. Naked Apple parents support each other inside and outside the co-op, helping instill a lifetime love of learning in each other’s children. No one understands children like their family, and the family’s unwavering support and encouragement are what gives them the confidence to face the world. But even the strongest of families needs a supportive Tribe of caring individuals behind them.
New Harvest Christian Co-op
New Harvest is a parent-led co-op that focuses on providing academic and enrichment classes with a biblical world view. We are a community of homeschoolers providing encouragement and support to one another in Hampton Roads. Together, we stand shoulder to shoulder on the journey to prepare our students for academic success in a modern world. New Harvest provides three core classes, literature, history, and science, for grades K-12. High schoolers enjoy an even broader range of required courses available to those seeking a higher education. Finally, we add enrichment classes for all grade levels. The more families and cooperation we have, the more enrichment we can provide! At New Harvest, we strive to provide challenging academic classes using tools such as group discussion, projects, team-building, media and experiments. We desire to see our students thrive and grow into the young men and women God has called them to be.
Heritage Home Educators (Heritage Homeschool Group)
This group is a Christian based non-profit homeschool co-op serving Suffolk & surrounding area families.
Renaissance School of the Arts
We are an inclusive, secular homeschool cooperative for pre-k through high school. We meet in Suffolk, VA on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through April, with a winter break at the holidays. We offer classes in the visual and performing arts, along with academics and an exciting S.T.E.M. program. We also offer fun social activities, clubs, a yearbook, a teen dance, and a graduation ceremony.
God's Homeschool Warriors
God’s Homeschool Warrior’s co-op supports parents and children in achieving excellence in education through an environment of Godly wisdom and talented partnerships. We partner with families from Suffolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Smithfield, Windsor Virginia, and Gates County, NC. As an organization that is owned and run by its members, we all share in the responsibilities and benefits of the co-op. To be successful in providing excellence, we ask all families to participate in three ways: *Prayer. Since wisdom and sound judgement come from God, we ask all parents to ask God to provide our children and teachers (parents) with wisdom. *The Use of your Gifts. God equips all of us with areas of strengths and spiritual gifts that can be applied in the Godly education of our children. All parents are expected to serve as teachers or aides. *Your Input. This is your co-op and your child’s education. We invite all parents to participate in meetings. We encourage questions, suggestions and solutions. We meet at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, VA on Wednesdays from 9:00-2:55 pm.
Roanoke Salem Homeschool Academy
At Roanoke-Salem Homeschool Academy, we offer a wide range of classes for students from Pre-K through 12th grade, both academic and non-academic. Our school day is divided into six periods, and students can choose to attend as many or as few of these periods as they wish. Classes are held on Mondays, and assignments are given during class time with the expectation that they will be completed at home. For transcript purposes, middle and high school courses are given final grades. Middle and high school students may be dropped off, and parents are not required to teach. Our academy currently serves students with a selection of different classes. Our goal is to provide an additional option for academic instruction in a classroom setting, while still recognizing that the primary responsibility for a student's education lies with the parent.
