Class Description Daily 9am-12pm class from July 20th to 24th. Prior registration and payment required. During Fashion Forward, you will learn basic sewing and design skills while making wearable garments and accessories that are both fun and stylish! You will explore both hand- and machine-sewing, up-cycling, making clothing from scratch and fine details of sewing needed to make additional projects. In addition to newfound skills, you’ll get to take home everything you design and make. The first 1.5 hours of class will be instructional. Special Notes This class will be taught on Zoom. A link will be sent a few days before the class start date. The first 1.5 hours of class will be instructional. The second 1.5 hours the instructor will remain available on Zoom for additional questions and problem solving. Students can check in and out as needed. For this Teen Intensives participants will need to purchase their own supplies. Please see list below. Required Supplies -Sewing Machine w/ needle and accessories -Scissors that can cut multiple layers of fabric -Pins (regular and 1 large safety pin) -Cardstock or construction paper -Access to a printer and plenty of paper -Access to a work surface (table or non-carpeted floor) -Iron and Heat resistant surface (ironing board or bed/table with several layers of towels) -1 coordinating package of double-wide bias tape -One size appropriate t-shirt to be embellished - 1/4 yd Or 1 small package fusible web (Heat and Bond or similar) -Copy of patterns: -https://5outof4.com/product/pajama-pants/ - https://5outof4.com/product/ramsay-apron/ -For Apron: -1-1/4 yd light weight woven cotton Apron fabric - Optional 1/3 yd coordinating Pocket Fabric - 3 yds Cotton or Polyester Webbing in coordinating color for straps - Matching thread -For PJ Pants: - Light weight woven cotton fabric (2-3/4 yd for long pants OR 1-1/2 yd for shorts) - Matching thread - 1-1/4" non-roll waistband elastic -Additional supplies may be needed if additional projects are desired. -All supplies available at Freeman's Creative, JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby. Some supplies available at Scrap Exchange. Instructor(s) AMIE PALMER is a lifelong fiber arts enthusiast who has been sewing and knitting for over 30 years. Her favorite projects include custom-fitted clothing and creating functional accessories by combining a variety of fiber arts.
