Become immersed in history and the heritage of Missouri. This day camp is for high school students who want to experience history in a new way. Students will participate in hands-on activities that will teach them skills and trades such as blacksmithing, muzzeloading, open fire cooking, and more. They will be introduced to the field of interpretation, which is a communication process widely used in parks and historical sites. Graduates of the Colonel’s Company Day Camp will be eligible to apply for a scholarship. Two scholarships are granted each year. Applications are due no later than May 20, 2011. Camp is held each day from 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Camp is $200 per student. This cost includes a camp T-shirt that will be given out at the end of the camp. If you wish to purchase period clothing for your child, this can be done for an additional charge of $25. The period clothing consists of a bonnet and apron for girls and a drop sleeve shirt and hat for boys.
