Our Steps to College - Part 1
What About Researching?

There are so many different ways to homeschool high school. Some teens aim to complete their high school years at home, then go directly into the world of work. Others go to community college and earn dual credit or work towards an AA. Still others are homeschooling high school and planning to apply to a four year college.

My 17-year-old daughter is one of them.  She is now finishing up her senior year at home.  She has always been homeschooled, and has recently been accepted by three colleges!   We are celebrating at our house!

There are many homeschool friendly colleges out there, and colleges are looking for the kind of students that homeschooling produces - motivated, independent learners!

Are you also homeschooling towards college?

This is my first post in a series - Our Steps to College -  where I try to share what we did, (and how we did it!), with tips and encouragement along the way....

Beginning Our College Research

My best advice would be to do the research early, if  possible. When we began our research, my daughter was in 9th grade, but it can be done later, by just recalling info about their previous studies, and going from there.

The most important part of our research was to find out what the colleges wanted of their incoming freshman.

Next month we will explore more about researching College Admissions.

Betsy is an eclectic homeschooler, mom to her 17yo, consultant and blogger at BJ's Homeschool, who shares how she helped her always homeschooled daughter get accepted by four colleges.  Her series called - Our Steps to College., includes tips and advise for the college application process.  She offers free homeschool help to families here.
