We meet twice per month for Education classes. Our classes are divided into three groups: K-3, 4-8, 9-12.

Description: The Iowa City Home Education Network (ICHEN) E-mail List was created to facilitate communication between homeschooling families in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and all nearby Iowa communities. Our hope is to provide social opportunities, support, encouragement and information as needed. We strive for group opportunities such as potlucks, gymnasium play-days, maple syrup festivals, field trips, tours, etc. Whatever your homeschool philosophy, from unschooling to traditional, you are more than welcome in this inclusive homeschool group.
Requirements: Must be considering homeschooling, or a current homeschooler. No solicitors allowed.

Description: This secular homeschool association welcomes all Iowa City and surrounding area families who are interested in creating community with homeschooling families of all backgrounds and lifestyles. Members are encouraged to plan and participate in events that will provide educational and social opportunities for our children. All members who join this group must be aware that people of all religious backgrounds (including Pagan, Buddhist, Muslim, Judaic, Christian, etc.) and people with no religious affiliation will be attending events. Respect of these differences is important to the creation of a supportive community.

Geographic Area Serving: Louisa County area, Iowa
Description: Currently we have 19 families. The families are geographically located in Louisa County or in the surrounding counties. The students range in age from pre-school to 10th grade. We have monthly Mom Time Out meetings with the mom-teachers. Also monthly we haveat least one field trip or event for the students. Currently we are running a co-op geography class every two weeks for 3 months followed by co-op science classes. In September we have a family picnic and in May we have a variety show. We also have a band that started up in fall of 2006 with private lessons and group band. We are also going to have drama this year with the students doing small sketches.
Requirements: This is a Christian homeschool group, but no statement of faith required and no particular denomination. We have members from assorted denominations including Quaker, Catholic, Baptist, and community churches. Some meetings include a devotion and/or prayer.
Benefits: We have quarterly newsletters that include things done by the students such as book reports, drawings, stories, and calendar of events for the next quarter. We provide membership cards for the adults, Student ID cards for the students, Book Reading program forms such as Pizza Hut. We collect Boxtops for Education, Campbell labels, and Tyson labels for group benefits.

Description: NICHE exists to provide support and information to home educating families in the state of Iowa. We are a Christian organization dedicated to observing the Biblical commands of: Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Proverbs 22:6, and Ephesians 6:4. We promote home education and believe that every family has the God-given mandate and responsibility to oversee the education of their own children.
Requirements: Membership is open to all. The members of the NICHE board of directors each sign a statement of faith, but no faith statements are required of the general membership.
Benefits: Members receive an informative newsletter with news and encouragement and an e-newsletter with updates and links to important information, free newsletter & website classified advertising space, an HSLDA discount, and more!
