Homeschool Enrichment Classes
What are Homeschool Enrichment Classes?

Homeschool enrichment classes (enrichment classes) are classes offered by charter schools, public schools, and other not-at-home sources to aid the homeschooling families in their communities. Enrichment classes are the non-basic courses (art, music, physical education) offered in a group setting with other homeschool students.

What classes can I have my student take?

Your child can take classes ranging from art to music to chess in an enrichment class. Every location that offers enrichment courses offers different classes. If your child is interested in one particular subject, look for an enrichment course on that topic in your area.

If you are in the Phoenix, Arizona area for example you could find courses offered at Eagleride Enrichment Program in Mesa, a suburb of Phoenix, and see what courses are offered for your child. This particular program offers a Wednesday or Friday rotational program from 8:15am (or 8:30) until 3:30 pm for homeschoolers in third through eighth grade. Each grade level has a different course with a different teacher every hour, field trips, and specialty classes. The field trips enhance what each class is learning about at that particular time. There are specific programs for every grade level from K-9, and is a very popular choice amongst homeschoolers in the area.

Other enrichment programs are offered directly through homeschool support groups and cooperatives. These classes can include Latin, chess, drama, public speaking, and home economics. These courses may be taught by parents of the co-op, or by certified teachers for a nominal fee.

As you can see, enrichment programs vary far and wide depending on what topics you are looking for, where you are located, and how far you are willing to travel. There are classes available somewhere for everyone, and if you and your child(ren) are interested, it is highly recommended to look for them in your area.
